Calligraphy Wines is a female-owned and operated winery nestled in the heart of Sonoma County. With a dedication to small-lot, artisanal winemaking, Calligraphy focuses on crafting exceptional wines in limited quantities. Their portfolio includes an exclusive Pinot Noir from the renowned Bootlegger’s Hill Vineyard in the Russian River Valley and a beautifully structured Chardonnay from the esteemed Richard Dinner Vineyard in the Sonoma Mountain appellation.
Once an apple orchard and clandestine moonshine site, Bootlegger’s Hill is perched at 750 feet above sea level, just above the fog line between Sebastopol and Occidental. Surrounded by redwoods and firs, this cooler-climate site yields wines of elegance and richness. The vineyard features six distinct clones—115, 667, Pommard, 37, Calera, and Elite—each contributing unique characteristics while preserving the vineyard’s signature expression.
The Richard Dinner Vineyard was planted in 1994 with an heirloom selection of Old Wente Clone Chardonnay. Its legendary “Block 4” is widely regarded as one of California’s Grand Cru sites. Located high on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain and facing the Sonoma Valley, this hillside block is bordered by native oak forest. Its gnarled, weathered vines produce low-yield, high-concentration fruit with excellent natural acidity and nuanced, sun-kissed flavors.
Looking ahead, Calligraphy is preparing to plant Gorthy-Challa Vineyards—a 24-acre estate in Sebastopol. Here, daily morning fog blankets the land, creating ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Included in this exclusive offering is a private wine tasting experience hosted by Calligraphy founder Pooja Gorthy. Six adult guests will be welcomed for a memorable two-hour evening at either the founders’ private residence in the Peninsula or at the winery’s vineyard home in Sebastopol.
